Episode IV

There will be server maintenance on the English PC Phantasy Star Online servers during June 28th 2005 between the times of 12:00am & 03:00 (PST) = 08:00 - 11:00 (GMT).

During this time please do not attempt to connect to the servers as if maintenance is happening on your corresponding servers at that time then you will be automatically disconnected after connecting. If you happen to be playing during these times please disconnect otherwise at the time when maintenance starts you will be disconnected from your game no matter what! This affects all players of the following English PC games:

  • Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst

Please reconnect after these times where service continues as normal. You've guessed it, Episode IV IS HERE!!! Most likely expect to be patch downloading shortly afterwards when it becomes available. I'll be seeing you there! Happy Hunting!

14 Years Old - Happy Birthday Sonic!

Happy Birthday Sonic from Ragol.co.uk!

SEGA of Europe have today posted regarding the fact that today will be Sonic the Hedgehog's 14th Birthday! Can you believe it was 14 years ago to this day in 1991 that Sonic first made his great debut on the SEGA MegaDrive? Pretty unbelivable eh? And yet today he still carries as big an audience as he did back in the days, still playing the starring role in games rocking this generation of console machines, and most likely across the next aswell as the handhelds! Don't forget that Sonic has also played his part in our favourite Phantasy Star Online titles in previous years!

The Final Produce!Well to celebrate, SEGA of Europe want you to get in on the festivities by making your very own birthday cake for Sonic! We're not talking spending hours making messes in the kitchen while burning your hands and let alone what else, no, we're talking a nice paper model for our pixellated friend! Get over to SEGA of Europe and download the free .pdf to print off and cut & glue your way to the bestest cake ever!

The Starting Point! When you've finished, you could send it into SEGA at incoming@sega-city.com for your chance to get it onto their website and to even get your mitts on a one-off SEGA goody bag! See how mine goes in next weeks Hunters Gazette, and why not send yours in aswell if you do participate and ill put it up on display aswell (Send to: lee-yoshi@ragol.co.uk), whether its a work of art, or the work of farts!

Happy 14th Birthday Sonic from all of us at Ragol.co.uk! ^_^

Ragol.co.uk - Losing Interest? I Think Not!
(Double_Edge - June 22 2005 - 6:52 PM)
Site Update

On our previous poll, we asked 'Would you participate if a new Ragol.co.uk Episode III competition was held?' The asnwers came through, but perhaps a little topsy-turvy.  Let's take a peek at how the polling turned out:

  • 'Sign Me Up! (Singles Knockout)'

~ 19.0% (45 votes)

  • 'Sign Me Up! (Doubles Knockout)'

~ 6.3% (15 votes)

  • 'Sign Me Up (Singles League)'

~ 5.0% (12 votes)

  • 'Sign Me Up (Doubles League)'

~ 10.1% (24 votes)

  • 'Nah, not my cup of tea'

~ 56.7% (134 votes)

...and I bold the final option above because it would seem that some have lost interest in PSO Ep. III. However, being an Ep. III fanatic myself, I can't see that happening.  Or, quite on the contrary, perhaps all of you PSO fans out there are simply tossing and turning in your sleep thinking about the brilliant Phantasy Star Universe due for release within the next year.  Or, Blue Burst anyone?  ^_^ Watch for our latest poll near the top of the main page.

I'd like to take this oppurtunity to thank all of Ragol.co.uk's loyal visitors.  If you have any questions or comments about any of our...PSU coverage, for instance, feel free to drop a comment in our designated Feedback Forum.  Ciao for now!

Ragol.co.uk

Ragol.co.uk Forumer Moonwraith has spotted that another announcement has arisen on the english Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst forums - And a bad announcement at that. Yes thats right, that amazing and outstanding new episode we're all waiting for, Episode IV, will NOT be released tommorrow... but instead next Tuesday (28th June 2005).

Co-incidentally, if you have registered your Hunters License from the moment you finished the BETA, and they released the full version of Blue Burst, claiming your free 14 days trial, you'll also be prompted for payment for your first Hunters License, as it'll run out on this date. As i say... Co-incidence? Or something more sinister...

Sonic Team have released another 3 more screenshots regarding the great game that will be Phantasy Star Universe:

Also regarding Universe, this months Official PlayStation Magazine has a small preview on the game if anyone is interested. Whats more interesting is the fact that they have it slated for a release in 10 months time (April 2006). Considering Sonic Team previously said we were going to get it at Winter 2006, has it been moved forward for the better? Lets hope so! Also on the final note, the OPM has given the game a 'Meltdown' rating, meaning they're so excited about this game, they could, meltdown! Very good news to hear that its getting a good reception over here ^_^

Episode IV - Are you ready for the Impact?

Ragol.co.uk

Episode IV is coming in just over a weeks time, and we cant help but start to get excited right now! This is the very long awaited new episode in the PSO series that answers the fans that have been crying out since the SEGA Dreamcasts untimely death, and since Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution came out to change their faith in the way PSO may be going in the future. Fear not young hunters, Episode IV is here, with everything you loved from Episodes I & II! A crazy storyline, with stupidly wierd enemies, crazy MAGs and weapons are just some of the things you can look forward too! However if you're in the dark over the subject, we can shed some light on the situation.

Episode IV is an expansion pack to Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst, so you'll need Blue Burst before you can play Episode IV (Click Here!), but the awesome news it, you'll get it for no extra cost! Not only was Blue Burst a free game to buy and download, but Episode IV comes at no extra cost aswell, surely making this the bestest launch ever. Kinda makes the wait worthwhile! All you have to pay, is the monthly Hunters License (And even with that you get 14 days free - So you could try out Episode IV for free for 14 days to see what all the fuss is about - Bargain!).

Episode IV comes complete with all new levels, containing all new enemies and a boss to strike down with avengence. Also new are weapons, a few items, MAG kits, as if that wasn't enough. You'll not need to worry over you're existing characters fate though if you already play Episodes I & II on Blue Burst, as they carry straight over as if its the same game... which it kinda is! For more information regarding the weapons, items, MAG kits, enemies, levels, and just about everything else (Based on the Japanese release of Episode IV), click over to this Ragol.co.uk Article (As almost 2000 other readers have!).

The storyline? As following on from Episode III (Well, Episode II i suppose come to think of it, unless they mention the change back from C.A.R.D's!), Pioneer 2 is happily hovering around the planet Ragol, and as expected, a meteorite is happening not so far away - Pioneer 2 safe from harms way of course... or so they think. As the meteors fly by, a sudden flow of photon is released from the planets surface, striking the meteorite, altering its path to Pioneer 2's direction, and as a result, the ship gets badly hit. Whats worse is that the passing meteorite continues its path down to Ragols surface, and crash lands into the ground, causing a huge crater to leave its mark on the surface. The second it crashes though, it seems its already leaving something else behind, as the impact causes new animal life to breed and evolve, into something, well not really that pretty! Better get down there and find out who's behind this. Falz, Flow, now who?!

We, being the nice folk we are (And indeed being the foremost Phantasy Star Online resource!), are also playing host to the video trailer/introduction of the new storyline in Episode IV. To view this stunning footage, and footage which may make you drool harder then you first drooled at seeing Phantasy Star Universe last year for the first time, especially knowing its getting its free release in just over a week, can be download straight from our servers.

June 23rd is the date, and if you can't keep your anticipation to yourself, chat about it in our forums! We'll see you there! Happy Hunting!

PSO Blue Burst Patch just 24 hours away!
(Ivan - June 13 2005 - 12:08 PM) - Comments (0)
General

The real official Blue Burst you'll be playing  will be open at 9pm (PST) that's also Noon EST, and 5pm GMT! Here's the low-down!

From the times 4am to 9am (PST), you will not be able to connect to Blue Burst. At 9am (PST), ST will open up the servers again so you can re-connect. You will be downloading a likely larger than normal patch enabling the following:

Mail Box Function:

I think this is so cool! You can send mail to even offline users! I.e. You get a mailbox on PSO. Note the max is 50 so make sure you're not offline for too long or too well known! lol. When you get on you'll be noted of your offline messages. (Sorta works like yahoo messenger if you have it)

Page up and down function:

This is one of those minor helpers. You'll be able to scrolll through item menus using the page up and page down key

Word Wrap:

Apparently there was some sort of bug with this... the line break will now work properly. I noticed this just last night! Shows how slow I am! The word wrap will not be activated atumatically though. You must activate it through the options menu.

Zoom:

Now this one sounds like it works a lot like setting your screen resolution on your computer. If you have the scroll wheel on your mouse, (and who doesn't these days?) you can zoom in and out pretty much using the scroll wheel on your mouse. There's 4 levels.

Focus Sound:

Supposedly, you can select this in your launcher options, about Background Music (BGM) and Sound Effect (SE) on and off when Blue Burst is not running (Active/On) Note: this is in windows mode only. (Selectable in your options menu before starting Blue Burst)

Episode 2:

I always thought it was availible but according to mr. shoe uk it's not and won't be until the real thing is out, so this is an enabler included with the big patch. Also there's episode 2 quests included as well!

Challenge and Battle mode:

Yes! These modes are also finally included! My friend and I wanted to battle last night..ironic I got this piece of info after logging off Blue Burst!

More quests and GM quests:

I'm assuming these may be the old Gamecube and Xbox quests, but maybe their new ones! Also the GM (Probobly GameMaster) - The people supposedly going to be cruising around in the lobbies after the beta ends. I guess there's supposed to be events related to these people. But we'll confirm this for you!

Battle and challenge mode:

Sadly, this will not be availible until AFTER the beta ends. So if you planned on playing that for free...sorry.

More difficulties:

There was no Very Hard or Ultimate mode supposedly to level up on, so if isn't out already it will be out and included with the patch!

No episode 4?!:

According to Jonathan_F (A ragol.co.uk member and PSOWorld Staff!) there is no episode 4 to be released tomorrow! It will supposed to be out this week or next week..maybe it will be tomorrow. I'll personally confirm this for you all ASAP!

Lee, myself, and the rest of the Blue Burst team will keep you updated on all the info! In the mean time, keep posted, I've got more info coming including this:

All 56k users, CAN play Blue Burst. I run on 56k and what I did was I went to a friends house and downloaded it and burned it onto a disc then installed it on my PC and it runs fine! If any 56k'ers have any questions, e-mail me at amarikenidiot09@netscape.net you can also PM me or just post it on the forum if you don't trust me!

We all hope to continue to see you on the official Blue Burst block Oceanus 6-01 and keep it here for updates!

New Universe Information... including 2 new peoples!

Playstation

Ragol.co.uk

SEGA have updated the official Phantasy Star Universe website with loads of new information concerning the game. If you can read Japanese then my hat goes off to you, because it means you can actually translate the new game information, but if you alike me you can't, you'll have to put up with trying to find someone who can so you too can read up about the 2 new characters announced on the website, aswell as more information regarding game elements of the 'Seed', the 'Guardians', and the 'Relics'. There's also a new game trailer exclusively for viewing on the website, but i havent got it to work yet :(

Both of the all new characters!

The two new characters announced on the official PSU website are known as Lumia Waber, and Leogini Santosa Berafort (What a mouthful!), and you can see them in the image above. So far that makes 4 characters, but theres room for plenty more as far as Sonic Team are concerned! Once we learn of the new readings on the official website - Thats PhantasyStarUniverse.com - we'll let you know!

Completing the line-up
(Lee_yoshi - June 11 2005 - 11:34 AM)
PC

Unfortunately i haven't been around for a little while, so i've been unable to deliver to you all the actions concerning the great Blue Burst, either here (Although i see out other great staff has been on to keep you up-to-date), or internationally - So here's whats going on in Blue Burst in the land of the rising sun... thats Japan btw:

  • Challenge Stage - Episode II, Stage 4

We have the powah!Woah, they've messed up bigtime here with the character proportions... eep!

Challenge Stage is back again, and to round it all off for Episode II, Stage 4 comes your way, so you can get to grips with the Seabeds, and the other lurkings on down there. However... is this really the end?

Blue Burst Launch Date Given, 13th June!

PC

The official PSO Blue Burst community site, www.psobb.com, have stated that the full version of Blue Burst will go live on June 13th, and with the following new content:

  • Episode II is coming soon with all new Lab Quests and Difficulty modes.
  • Take on any player in Battle Mode for some PvP action.
  • Cooperate with friends to tackle Challenge Mode.
  • PC-exclusive Episode 4 debuts on U.S. servers featuring new enemies, new environments, and amazing new items.
  • Updated Quests and all new GM run events!

Does this mean Episode 4 will debut from launch? An exciting prospect, but I should think all Blue Bursters will first have to clear the Episde II Lab Quests! Also interesting are the "updated quests and all new GM run events". It would be likely that many of the old PSO quests are added (such as the Endless Nightmare series, and maybe even the well known 'Towards the Future' quest), but hopefully we'll see many new Blue Burst missions too. The GM run events could be anything, from small battle mode matches to chair races, so let's keep our fingers crossed that they're fun!

As was reported two days ago, the beta was supposed to close on the 9th of June, but the date given on the official site is now June 13. Have they given us a small extension, knowing we wouldn't be able to put up with that three day wait between beta closing and the real launch?

I hope to continue meeting many of you Ragol.co.uk Blue Burst players online, it's been great fun so far, and with the added features from the game's full launch, will surely get better still!

Just a quick one today, my friends ...

Ah, alas, the BETA test of Sonic Team's Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst is coming to an end.  It has been a glorious month, in terms of playing the brilliant addition to the PSO series, and for ST to be able to show their gorgeously re-done game off.  At any rate, my point is that, in but 3 days time, Thursday June 9th, the BETA period will be over.

So, finish off your last Boomas, and slice down your final Claws.  We, here at Ragol.co.uk, sincerely hope you had a great month of testing this game, and we look forward to more play of it in the very near future!  Ciao for now, PSO fans!

Nintendo Bridal Shower - Server Maintenance!
    (Lee_yoshi - June 3 2005 - 2:11 PM)
    Gamecube

There will be server maintenance on the Nintendo Gamecube Phantasy Star Online servers during June 7th 2005 between the times of 14:00 & 17:00 (Japanese Time).

During this time please do not attempt to connect to the servers as if maintenance is happening on your corresponding servers at that time then you will be automatically disconnected after connecting. If you happen to be playing during these times please disconnect otherwise at the time when maintenance starts you will be disconnected from your game no matter what! You are given 10 minutes warning via. constant on-screen messages counting down until the time the upgrades start. This affects all players of the following Nintendo Gamecube games:

    • Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II
    • Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II Plus
    • Phantasy Star Online, Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution

Please reconnect after these times where service continues as normal. Being added are the Wedding Day decorations for all the in-game lobbies, with the first 10 of the Episodes I & II lobbies, and all the Episode III lobbies to get the make-over treatment. Also spot the big bell to appear in the lobby! No new additions aside from that unfortunately though.

Have you got a special June Bride?

    Site Update

    Ragol.co.uk - E3 2005

Is that the time?! Better whip up another great edition of the Ragol.co.uk fortnightly Hunters Gazette!

There's no doubt that in the recent years since SEGA have been killed from the console scene, they haven't been at their best, but this year they've done so much in so little time to turn the place around and, almost start again. So far this year they've announced they've already got 2 amazing games set for Xbox 360's launch, while highlighting several other excellent titles for many formats. Did you know they also won UK games trade magazine MCV's Most Improved Company award this year aswell? Blimey, now thats turning things around for sure!

They really got their work cut out for them, but they didnt let slip at E3 by giving it their all, and in this fortnights Hunters Gazette, we take another lookback to E3 2005, and show off what else SEGA had on show besides Phantasy Star Universe, because we all love SEGA!

Unfortunately, some of our regular features such as the PSO news lookback, and the reports from our lovely & great eBay Chao, are not featured in this fortnights edition of the Hunters Gazette due to personal technical problems, so be thankful its here at all! There's no way i'm gonna stop writing these bad boys for you all ^_^

    Enjoy!

    Ragol - E3 2005

SEGA of Europe have once again been browsing other websites on the world wide web for views on their show of E3 2005, and Sonic Team's Phantasy Star Universe display attracted 2 other awards alongside runner-up on IGN.com's best PS2 RPG category. Universe also picked up the runner-up award on 1UP.com's best RPG game, and best of all, it was awarded G4TV/X-Play's best multi-platform game! Now thats an award!

Other SEGA games won other various awards, and for all of that, you'll need the award page SEGA of Europe have compiled to show off on their own website! Click here.

All in all, a pretty dam good E3 for Phantasy Star Universe, and indeed SEGA.
