Site Update

The poll has changed again today as we have discovered that an overwhelming amount of you hunter and hunterettes will most definately be getting Blue Burst considering the recent poll results:

Will you be getting Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst?

  • Yes, as soon as it is released!
    • 45% (100 Votes)
  • If it catches on with the PSO community
    • 3.6% (8 Votes)
  • When I can buy it in shops, not download
    • 9.4% (21 Votes)
  • It depends on the fee
    • 13.5% (30 Votes)
  • Only if Episode IV is available
    • 6.3% (14 Votes)
  • If my PC is good enough
    • 11.7% (26 Votes)
  • No, I'm not interested
    • 10.3% (23 Votes)

Almost half the voters out there will most likely be getting Blue Burst which is definately a good sign! Anyways, this time our poll turns to existing PSO games after a recent influx in new Phantasy Star game polls, by asking you if you'd like to see another Phantasy Star Online, Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution Battle competition staged here on Ragol.co.uk after the last well recieved competition held on Episode III. Well... would you?

For more information regarding each option, click over to this Ragol.co.uk Forum Thread for a detailed description over whats up for voting.

Next Generation Polling
(Lee_yoshi - April 29 2005 - 10:14 AM) - Comments (2)
General

SEGA of Europe's website is now pretty much constantly updated (Which is something we're not used to from the old website!), and whats noticable from the recent update is the new poll.

This time around SEGA of Europe are asking you which of the next generation consoles you're most looking forward too. Now it may be just me, but i would hazard a wise guess at saying that the results of this poll could very well play a part in next generation console development!

Of course, they're not asking for opinions or feedback or exclusive insider kind of knowledge, they just want to know what you're most looking forward too on what you've heard, so go and voice your opinion!

You may vote for either 'Xbox 2', 'PlayStation 3', or 'Nintendo Revolution'. At the moment, its pretty much even stevens, which is interesting to see what SoE will make of. On exact results, the Xbox 2 is leading the pack by a few percent.

Will the game also see store releases alongside the free download? Well they haven't said, but in the meantime, enjoy the different artwork!

Also on the subject on Blue Burst releases, Ragol.co.uk Forumer Starman has noticed that the American/English website for PSO: BB has been setup and now has 'Coming Soon' words clearly printed underneath the artwork we've seen on SEGA of America's website.

We're all getting very excited... but it has to be sooner!!! We can't take it!!!

Sony PSP finally dated and priced for Europe!
(Lee_yoshi - April 26 2005 - 7:48 PM)
Playstation

For anyone who is interested in the next generation handheld consoles (And who knows, some day we could see a Phantasy Star title on them!), Sony has finally today let loose a release date and price for the EU launch of the Sony PSP handheld.

Sony PSPThe newest and slimmest PlayStation will be hitting European shops stores on September 1st 2005, for a fair price of £179.99.

The £179.99 price doesnt just get you a console though, as it comes as part of the Sony PSP Value Pack, which also comes with lots of accessories, such as A.C. Adaptors, UMD samples, a 32Mb Memory Stick, etc.

It's been a long time waiting for European gamers, and the wait just got even longer, much to the annoyance of PlayStation fans, however, at a price thats not as bad as many expected, especially compared to the U.S. Release Price, is it worth it? :p

For further discussion on the Sony PSP Console, you can head on over to our forums official PSP thread.

Nope, its not Star Trek DVD Boxsets Amazon.co.uk are listing (Although i'm sure they are available!), but the listings i'm talking about are the Next-Generation of games consoles!

Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com have both added the line-up of all 3 next generation consoles to their video games listings! Sony's PlayStation3, Microsoft's Xbox 2 (Xbox 360 as listed) and Nintendo's Nintendo Revolution consoles now have webpages for all to see. However, they don't give specs, because obviously, no-one knows them as of yet!

Sonic Team of Japan have done a blinder with Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst in Japan with the Login Cup... making everyone else who doesn't live in Japan want to throw stones at their offices because they're all so jealous.

"Whats there to be jealous of? This is a silly news post so far" is what you're probabily saying at the moment. Well i'll tell you what there is to be jealous of, and thats the prizes up for grabs in the Login Cup Maximum Attack (Version 2) competition.

Sonic Team have today comfirmed that they'll indeed be giving away small prizes for all who take part with Mobile Phone extras such as Free Wallpapers and Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst & Episode IV MAG Straps in association with SEGA Mobile.

MAG Phone Straps for all! Aren't they cool you guys?Oh Yea! That'll put a smile on your phone!

That's not all they're giving away though, as including the above, they're also giving away the chance to own luxury prizes including 1 year Subscriptions to Login Magazine, a Digital Video Camera, and top notch Bicycles!

"What do you look most forward to in PSU?"
(mr_shoe_uk - April 16 2005 - 7:49 AM)
General

As news regarding PSU came in thick and fast, we gave you the opportunity to share your views on what exactly about it is getting you excited with the poll "what do you look most forward to in PSU?"

So, without further delay, here are the results:

The amazing updated graphics!
14.1% (16)

The brand new storyline.
6.1% (7)

Playing online with all your buddies.
10.6% (12)

All of the above.
69% (78)

Quite clearly, the overwhelming majority of gamers here are looking forward to everything about it, I can sense the anticipation building already! Behind this, the new graphics came in second (though it was hardly close), which may be due to Phantasy Star Online's 5 year old engine looking more outdated as time goes on, though I still believe Blue Burst will be great!

Following on from Sega's recent confirmation of a Blue Burst release in Europe, we'll be seeing if excitement is the same regarding it in our new poll!

Blue Burst for Europe
(mr_shoe_uk - April 13 2005 - 3:26 PM) - Comments (15)
PC

After being extremely tight-lipped about it for a very long time, Sega Europe finally announced today that Blue Burst will be available to download in Europe from June 2005. Blue Burst is a PC only Phantasy Star Online game that incorporates Episodes I and II, as well as featuring a number of new quests, and saving player data to the game's own servers to combat cheating.

Sega's press release states "PSO-BB game client software will be downloadable free of charge from servers on the Internet," which seems to imply that there will be a monthly charge only, with no initial fee for downloading. This seems like a great deal, as I can't imagine the monthly fee will be any more than £10, and probably more like the Episode I & II and III's £6 per month. There is no sign of a shop release, but as the game is online only anyway, I shouldn't imagine this will cause too many problems. Though as cryptic as ever, one intruiging line is on Sega's game page, "Including previous PSO adventures revised and updated, along with the all-new PSO 4." Surely this means episode IV will be released in Europe, but this seems to say it may even be released with it! As was recently posted, there have been a lot of events recently for Blue Burst. Hopefully the early launch it is getting Europe, which will probably coincide with that of America, will mean we don't miss out a lot of the fun this time (like we did with the delayed Episode III). It also gives me high hopes for a quicker European launch of Phantasy Star Universe early next year!

The newly added gamepage on Sega Europe's website can be viewed at http://www.sega-europe.com/en/Game/136.htm

E3 time is almost here, and as always, although we wont be there (Maybe except in the world of dreamland), we'll still be bringing you all the relevant Phantasy Star Online news as its available.

Today incase you're interested really, as it wont affect you unless you are actually going to E3, the event organisers have put up the floor plans of all the exhibitors.

E3!Of course, all eyes will be mainly focused around Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft's areas within the trade show, we'll be looking mainly at SEGA's spot.

SEGA of America have got their floor space in lot #924 in the Southern Hall, looking at a very respectable size, being surrounded by all the other major players in the game, such as Electronic Arts, THQ, Konami, and Namco... but as we all know, its all about quality (News & Games), not quantity (Floor Size!). Will SEGA of America be delivering our dream news? Will we see and hear more of Phantasy Star Universe? Will they squeeze a mention or two of Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst? Are they going to unveil even more Phantasy Star goodness? We'll find out in Los Angeles, between 17th & 20th May 2005!

Howdi hunter and hunterettes! Just a quick news post to remind you that the 5th C.A.R.D. Revolution has now started, therefore you will most likely need to check your decks and make adjustments accordingly as some C.A.R.D. values get changed.

Don't know what i'm talking about? Then check this Ragol.co.uk Forum Thread or scroll down below to read the news post.

Also, it looks like our forumers have discovered the monster in the scrambled C.A.R.D, as a Del Rappy. Just for reference, it wasn't me who pixellated the monster image, it was Sonic Team... i'm not getting the blame for this one as i already have! However, it doesnt necessarily mean its the monster people think it could be... well we'll find out soon enough.

Happy Hunting folks, and enjoy the 5th C.A.R.D. Revolution in Episode III!

Sonic Team defy me on the same day i have a rant of my own at them in the Hunters Gazette, as they're finally updating Episode III!

It's a C.A.R.D. Revolution!

There will be server maintenance on the Nintendo Gamecube Phantasy Star Online servers during April 12th 2005 between the times of 14:00 & 17:00 (Japanese Time).

During this time please do not attempt to connect to the servers as if maintenance is happening on your corresponding servers at that time then you will be automatically disconnected after connecting. • Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II Plus
  • Phantasy Star Online, Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution

Please reconnect after these times where service continues as normal. Unfortunately, its not new quests or maps, but it is an adjustment to C.A.R.D. parameters!

Umbrella's - Surely evil enough only to be made by the Umbrella Corp?

Being adjusted are the rate at which you find the C.A.R.D.s. Some will become harder to find, however, many are becoming easier to find, including Rare C.A.R.D's!

Take them out!Don't be fooled by its minimal damage...

Some of the items to be made available include 'Sonic Knuckles ', and 'Parasol '. Below are some of the changing attributes (Excuse some Japanese Translations - Number in Brackets refers to overhead image)

No, its not Christmas, put it away!C.A.R.D's - Not just harmful for papercuts!Would you be trustworthy with these blazers?Do it, x 6!

Also as mentioned, some Rare 'SS' rank C.A.R.D.s are to be found more regularly. Three pointed out by Sonic Team are as below:

Seen that before anywhere?Annoying MAGs to the rescue!Nano Dragon... But much bigger then the average Nano...

No doubt you'll be able to see these are the upgraded (Plus) versions of many popular existing C.A.R.D's. Sonic Team also note that a new C.A.R.D. will be made available through the Auction Mode (The area accessible only through owning a V.I.P Pass, or being invited by an owner, Nudge Nudge, Wink Wink!).

Just what is it? Could it be... Episode IV?

Just what kind of monster is it? It could be from any Episode... remembering that there is also now Episode IV! :o

All of the above modifications take place as Sonic Teams 5th C.A.R.D. Revolution after Server Maintenance on April 12th at the above mentioned times, so make sure you're hanging around to be a part of the Revolution! On a final note, during this server maintenance, there is no updates towards Episodes I & II. Happy Hunting!

The astonishing (maybe?) results for our last poll are in.  Many of the visitors to this beloved site took the time to have their voice heard on which platform they would purchase SEGA's newest addition to the Phantasy Star Universe - Phantasy Star Universe!  So, for which platform do you plan on purchasing one of the most anticipated games of the year?  Let's find out:

  • 'PS2, of course!'

- 23.6% (58 votes)

  • 'Definitely PC!'

- 53.8% (132 votes)

  • 'PSU does not tickle my fancy.'

- 6.9% (17 votes)

  • 'Undecided.'

- 15.5% (38 votes)

Wowie, looks like PC is the favorite by a longshot!  Not at all surprising, however, is the simple fact that many Phantasy Star fans have not yet decided which platform they favor PSU coming to.  Only time will tell which system will have the most players; but until then, stay tuned to Ragol.co.uk for the latest on Phantasy Star Universe information!

And while you're here, don't forget to check out Lee-yoshi's PSU article...

SEGA sets the hype...

SEGA of America have started hyping up to the iminent release of Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst for PC on their website.

Used from SEGA.com

Along with their recent alteration of the way the website and game page looks, they've also added in a new poll to the frontpage of the american website testing SEGA fanatics of their knowledge of the new PSO game by asking its full name! Of course, you and i both know its Blue Burst, as do the majority of the SEGA website viewers, however, when i say majority, that does mean that there have been others voting for the subtitles of 'Ragol Nights' (Sounds like a Musical!), 'Quest for Glory' (Well, is very action-esque!), and 'Blue Birds' (I'm not gonna speak my mind...).

The game also tops SEGA of America's websites 'Coming Soon' release schedule that appears on the frontpage of the american website, which means its the next game SEGA plan to release, however whats worrying is the fact the other game on the list is 'Condemned' - a game recently announced for release on all next generation consoles! Well, i'm sure they're just teasing us, hopefully adding a few more games to that list soon for all other SEGA fans! They havent added Universe to the list... hmm...

Anyways, SEGA of America seem to be doing a nice job of hyping up the games audience on their website, so lets just hope it gets the attention it deserves. However, what we would like to know SEGA is a release date and how you're going to release it. When are you gonna let us in on your secrets!!

There will be server maintenance on the PC Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst servers during April 5th 2005 between the times of 14:00 & 18:00 (Japanese Time).

During this time please do not attempt to connect to the servers as if maintenance is happening on your corresponding servers at that time then you will be automatically disconnected after connecting. If you happen to be playing during these times please disconnect otherwise at the time when maintenance starts you will be disconnected from your game no matter what! You are given 10 minutes warning via. constant on-screen messages counting down until the time the upgrades start. This affects all players of the following PC games:

  • Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst

Please reconnect after these times where service continues as normal. Being added are the Cherry Tree decorations.

Hanami Time!

Next week on Blue Burst, Sonic Team have said they are to also incorporate the curtains (April 12th), which you can see in action in this video taken from the Nintendo Gamecube PSO games. Similarily enough, reading the news article posted just before this, you will see that Sonic Team have obviously got their console PSO updates the wrong way around, having already had the Cherry Tree and Spring decorations, the Gamecube is now to recieve the Easter decorations, currently still on Blue Burst servers, like they should be! Poor ol' Sonic Team!

Missed the boat, or just lost the plot?

Phantasy Star Online - Blue Burst

Just a short burst of news (Excuse the pun!). SEGA of America have changed around the website layout of their page for Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst, however it doesnt seem like much else has been added. There may be a few new comments on the games features that weren't on the page before, but aside from that, the game still has a 'Spring 2005' date slapped on the page! We're waiting...
