Sonic Team of Japan have recently added a whole new quest and item to the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst!

  • New Guild Quest Event!
    • 1 - 4 Players

The merchant has gotten word that a girl holds a weapon that changes with every month that passes! The only problem is that the girl doesn't want to exchange the weapon for anything else! However, she is after a new item, an item which can only be found in the depths of Episode IV's Crater.

Find the item, and she'll exchange it for her precious weapon of which has just also been released on Blue Burst! It is... the Mortar Rod!

With this new item release, Sonic Team of Japan also altered the Rare Item drop rates for the second time - However, this new item is only available by battling and slaying your way through this new mission. Good Luck!

Episode1&2

On November 28th, Sonic Team of Japan held Nintendo Gamecube server maintenance that saw the arrival of Christmas @ Phantasy Star Online for all of the below versions:

  • Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II
  • Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II Plus
  • Phantasy Star Online, Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution

Christmas @ PSO!

Added was Christmas decorations in lobbies for all of the above games, as well as the 'Pioneer Christmas' quest for Episodes I & II players!

The Quest see's you once again go down to Episode II's Gal De Val island in search of Cakes from the Naruna Sisters who have this time taken refuge to find the best ingredients in the Alpine area (Mountains). Your mission isn't as easy as you'd like though because you're also accompanied by a teacher and her 2 favourite pupils Mary & Christopher (After nagging her to death)!

After being transported down to Gal De Val, the 2 pupils come across special clothes which conviniently give them special powers! On your journey you will no doubt come across certain seasonal monsters...

Meeting 'St. Rappy' on Gal De Val island means you're one step closer to cakes! But before that... time for something completely different... a mini-game! Clear the Memory Mini-game, and St. Rappy will send you to meet up with the 3 Naruna Sisters for cakes... and presents! After meeting up with the ever joyous 3 Naruna Sisters, it also turns out to be your job to deliver special packing paper so the cakes remain as sweet and tasty as christmas is fun and cold! Once done, return to Pioneer 2 for your congratulations and special Christmas themed surprise!

The quest is available from now until boxing day (26th December) and is playable only for 1 player. Happy Christmas Questing!

Japanese Dreamcast DNS Solution!
(Lee_yoshi - November 15 2006 - 10:02 AM) - Comments (0)
Version1&2

As previously reported, the SEGA Dreamcast version of Phantasy Star Online has recently been undergoing connection problems in Japan. Everyone concerned may be happy to know a new DNS address has been created by Sonic Team to resolve any connection problems with Phantasy Star Online & Phantasy Star Online, Version 2.

The new DNS address is: 202.51.6.50

Again though, this only concerns the Japanese edition of the game, not the European edition. The above address should be input as both primary and secondary addresses. Enjoy!

November is here - Gamecube Server Maintenance
(Lee_yoshi - November 6 2006 - 6:34 AM) - Comments (0)
Episode1&2

There will be server maintenance on the Nintendo Gamecube Phantasy Star Online servers during November 7th 2006 between the times of 14:00 & 17:00 (Japanese Time).

During this time please do not attempt to connect to the servers as if maintenance is happening on your corresponding servers at that time then you will be automatically disconnected after connecting. If you happen to be playing during these times please disconnect otherwise at the time when maintenance starts you will be disconnected from your game no matter what! You are given 10 minutes warning via. constant on-screen messages counting down until the time the upgrades start. This affects all players of the following Nintendo Gamecube games:

  • Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II
  • Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II Plus
  • Phantasy Star Online, Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution

Please reconnect after these times where service continues as normal. Unfortunately the time has come for all the Hallowe'en deccies to come down - I hope you made the most of the time Hallowe'en was around this year on Gamecube PSO!

Dreamcast problems in Japan!
(Lee_yoshi - November 2 2006 - 11:08 AM) - Comments (0)
Version1&2

You may remember on 20th April, we reported that Phantasy Star Online became a free game (I.e., the Hunters License is free) for all Japanese players across the SEGA Dreamcast versions of Version 1 & 2.

Well, recently Sonic Team of Japan have been having a few connection problems and errors are stopping people from playing online, in an official post by Sonic Team of Japan.

It seems that currently you can only connect to the Japanese servers through playing Version 2 online via. a SEGA Dreamcast Broadband Adapter, with Version 1 completely unplayable online at this time.

However, Ragol.co.uk Forumer K_I_R_E_E_K has found a post on another forum concerning the issue at onlineconsoles.com.

"A user at the JP PSO boards states that it is still possible to get online with version 1, however you need to redirect the game and resolve the IP’s yourself rather than relying on the ISP’s DNS servers.

It is imperative to note that this has NO effect on the European PAL Phantasy Star Online servers. Sega did not willingly terminate the functionality of Japanese PSO. It was a technical problem that would be fixed if possible.

Sega stated that this issue cannot be fixed on the game servers, and would need to be patched on the game disc itself.
"

Whether or not the problem will be fixed anytime soon is another issue, as Sonic Team programmers are probabily much more at work on PSU than PSO, but they're obviously aware of the problem so maybe sometime soon. For the meanwhile though, EU Dreamcast PSO should remain stable!
