Battle Phases
Learn the most basic, yet important part of episode 3...how to play!

Battle Phases - Before The Battle Starts...

Before the battle starts, you, your opponent(s) (and ally) will have to roll a dice to see who goes first. Obviously you go first if you roll higher, and if you have a 2 vs 2 battle, whichever team rolls the greater sum goes first. Next, wether you are going first or second, you will draw 5 cards of the deck you selected to battle with, asking you if you wish to change your hand. Note, this is a one time option! If you choose to draw another 5, the first 5 are not put in your discard pile, they are put back into your deck, and your deck is then shuffeled and you draw 5 cards again.

Battle Phases - Phases

Now that you've deteremined who goes first, you have to know the phases ane what/how you 'deal' with them. There are 5 phases: Dice, Set, Move, Act(ion), and Draw.

Battle Phases

You probobly notice at the top left corner, there are two boxes. One says ATK (Attack) and DEF (Defense). Here is how the numbers in each box work:

ATK (Attack): Determines cards you can summon, spaces you can move, and how many combos you can use to attack your opponent. (If any). For more information on combining cards, or summoning them, see the set phase section below.

DEF (Defense): Determines the rank of cards you can use during your opponents turn when he/she attacks you.

Battle Phases

Set, is the phase where if your using a Hunter (Hero) deck equip items or summon monsters if you're arkz (Dark). You may also set assist cards such as Dice 1 or Support at this time. The limit of "summons" is 8, and you have an extra star (That gauge at the top of the card are referred to as "stars") for support cards. For example, a Black King Bar costs 5 stars, so I would only have enough room left for a 3 star card such as an L&K14 Combat, plus room for Dice 1 as my assist-type card.

The move phase is where you move around the map towards an opponent or monster before you attack, note this costs action points, and if your using a hunter deck some items costs 2 to move if theyre equiped. So use your action points as wisely as you can!

Battle Phases

The act or action phase is the phase you attack your opponent. If your opponent is a arkz, you can attack him/her directly. Or if you're attacking a Hunter, you must destroy all of his/her cards before attacking your opponent directly. There are many action cards that can both increase your attack when attacking your opponent/opponent's items/opponent's monsters, as well as action cards to defend yourself/your items, your monsters. Pay attention to each story character you use for your deck(s) as they can attack at certain areas or there are certain attack action cards that can help you attack in certain areas. There are also cards that can attack multiple opponents/items at once.

The Draw phase is where you choose which cards you don't need and they move to your discard pile. If the leader, (the person who created the game) selected to do so, the cards discarded/destroyed will be put back in the deck, the deck is then shuffeled and you draw cards until you have 5. This is called the "Deck Loop". Note that the deck loop is the default setting.
