NOTE: This guide is NOT intended for people who are ace at battle mode. Reading over this as an expert may look like easy stuff, but many players are not aware of ANY tricks at all. This guide is intended for people who are new to semi-good, or for people who want to learn new tricks.

Battle Tips and Tricks - Various Tips

1. Ice Wiggle - VERY IMPORTANT SKILL, Can make the difference between losing and winning. When you are stuck in a Freeze Trap or a Barta spell, wiggle the "Analog" up-and-down as fast as possible. It's easier and faster if you use your right palm to wiggle out (some people such as Lede can wiggle out super fast because of mastering ice wiggle with their left palm). The expert BA players are almost unaffected by Ice traps or spells.

2. Semi-self resta - Arrange your quick menu (Hold R and press Y to access it) with Resta at an easy position to get to quickly. When you fall, open the quick menu and select resta. It will heal only yourself. This trick applies to Shifta, and Deband also. See #4 for counterattack method.

3. No weapon drop when you die - When you see that your HP is low or your TP is too low to do anything else, simply un-equip your weapon with the "Quick Action" menu. Some players can get really fast with this.

4. Counter "semi-self resta" - When someone falls, you always have the option of laying an ice trap and breaking it when the resta animation starts.

5. Ice Trap, Gifoie - Before trying this, know that gifoie and other spells break traps open. Lay an ice trap, and quickly (the delay is longer on gamecube) press Gifoie. They will freeze and take the damage from gifoie. Break out (you have the advantage seeing as you knew the trap was coming) and fire away.

6. Resta is lame - Back on the Dreamcast it wasn't a bad spell, but Sonic Team made Gamecube resta REALLY weak. Now it heals a very small amount of HP and takes of up almost all of your TP.

7. A Kill me - When someone kills you, you get 1000 points, and the victim gets -1000 points. If you kill yourself, you only lose 1000 because no one killed you. This can be accomplished in different ways. On rule 6 (team battle) you can have a partner kill you for the same effect. For solo play you can lay a damage trap, and use a technique that sets it off to kill yourself.

8. Trap usage - Both ice traps and damage traps are useful in their own different ways. Ice traps - use all ice traps when you get a pair of mechguns for devastating damage, use them in conjuction with gifoie, or simply lay a trap behind a corner. Damage traps - Use to suicide yourself, or lay one to have rafoie target it. If a trap is present on the screen and someone casts rafoie, the trap will explode resulting in a "Kill me".

Battle Tips and Tricks - Misc/ Tips

1. Team joining - A basic thing, 1st and 4th person who join are on the same team. So this means that 2nd and 3rd are on the same team too.

2. "Try Again" - I don't like to press "Try Again" for this reason. Ever noticed how when you press "Try Again" your partner is on the wrong side? It's because of "Try Again." If you press try again, the 1st and 3rd player end up on the same side, if you do it again, 1st and 4th are together, and 1 more makes it back to normal. THIS DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN!

3. Who gets what? - The first person to join is on team 1 and starts out on the left side, the 2nd person who joins is on team 2 and starts on the left side. The 3rd person who joins is on team 2 and starts on the right side. The 4th person who joins is on team 1 and starts on the right side. If you like handguns and Slicer, join 2nd of your team, if you don't like handguns, join 1st.

Battle Tips and Tricks - What ID's make what weapons?

The ID's produce the same stuff they do in the "real game" (normal mode weps). The weapons include: Slicer, Brand, Gigush, Partisan, Knives, Mechguns, Autogun, Cane, Wand, and Rifles.

Battle Tips and Tricks - What ID is "the best" for battle mode?

Well, it all depends on what class you are and what your favorite weapon is. For Forces, the ID doesn't really matter because they shouldn't fight with any weapons except a Handgun at later levels if they have no TP. For Rangers, purplenum would be the best because you can get mechguns, second best would be skyly for an autogun (this is the ID that made autogun appear most frequently during my tests). For Hunters the best ID really depends. For HUcaseals go with oran because they have a unique animation for daggers that is extremely fast and deadly. For the other HU classes, oran is still good, but you have other options too. Purplenum for mechguns, skyly for swords (not great), or greenill to produce brands. As for yellowboze (misc. ID) and redria (armor ID), they will produce random weapons.

Battle Tips and Tricks - What is the ultimate secret to battle mode?

Don't give up and practice any chance you get. You will lose. A lot. Don't complain and whine about losing or make excuses. If you practice enough, it will pay off and you will win more and more battles.
