Hunters Gazette - August 17th 2004

Welcome to yet another Hunters Gazette! I hope your enjoying them so far, as this is the 3rd and its as charming as it gets! It's a little earlier then usual, but the same quality!

The Olympics, Phantasy Star Style!

Phantasy Star Online Illustration Olympics

Athens Olympics 2004 Opening CeremonyOf course with everything going on in the world, who hasnt stopped to notice this years Olympics! The HUGE event started not a long time ago, and theres quite a long way to go until it finishes. This also goes for Phantasy Star Online, but i'm talking about it in a different way... of course, it's the PSO Olympics! Even SEGA got in on the celebrations in the strangest of ways by asking people all over the world (Mainly Japan) to create a Phantastic Masterpiece and work of art!

The competition got an excellent reply, with hundreds of entries being sent in, something i dont think Sonic Team of Japan quite expected, but really goes to show how popular the series is in the land of the rising sun. All of the entries were viewed and given scores on particular categories, (in other words Judge Voting) and were narrowed down as in the Olympics to 3rd (Bronze) 2nd (Silver) and 1st (Gold) medal per category. Looking through the entries on the Japanese website, it amazes me how they had time to judge them all, but the winners were found and compiled in a special private Episode III visual lobby.

With this edition of the Hunters Gazette i decided to pretty much show off what i considered to be the best entries. All of the entries to the PSO Illustration Olympics can be seen by clicking the link at the bottom of the article. Its amazing to think that people actually drew these out... how do they do it?!

The ones above are my particular favourites. It's a shame that Sonic Team didnt decide to put up the winning images in all the Episode III lobbies. In all honesty, they were much better then i could have ever created, makes me wonder how i ever got an A at GCSE Art & Design! :S

Ragol.co.uk has had their fair share of artists aswell on the forums. I have had the pleasure of seeing many great works whether they were PSO orientated or not. Maybe in the future Ragol.co.uk could hold a similar  competition? Although to be honest i think we would push for entrants. Who Knows! In the meanwhile why not take a gander at the PSO Illustration Olympics page and let us know your favourites via the forums, or have a browse at the many threads and images created by forum members by visiting the 'Fan Works' section.

Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II Music Compilations!

Not so long ago i added the 1st much requested Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II Music Compilation! I hope you're enjoying it as much as the Episode III Music Compilations. In the future you can look forward to an Episode I and an Episode II Music Compilation. This way you can download the file conatining the tracks you want the most, and not waste time downloading others you maybe don't want! Stay tuned for that hopefully sometime in the near future.

If you have any trouble downloading the files please report them to me either in an E-Mail or through the Ragol.co.uk Forums. I have had the odd one or two troubled Private Messages, so if you have a problem with any aspect of the files in question, please let me know as if i can confirm its a constant problem that there is a file problem and not an end user problem and can look into it.

Another Issue Over...

Thats it for this Hunters Gazette. It maybe wasnt as long as you all hoped, but took a bloody long time to write! Perhaps short and sweet? :p

Feedback as always is appreciated, whether it be a main Ragol.co.uk item, or the Hunters Gazette. There are many ways to tell us what you wanna get off your chest! Also be sure to check out the PSO Illustration Olympics webpages and entries, the links are below!
