Tokyo Game Show News!

SEGA had quite a show at this years Tokyo Games Show - Possibly the biggest games show in the world, maybe second only to E3. If anything though, i'd say SEGA definately had a bigger show in TGS then E3 from this year! What did they have on show? Walk this way to find out!

This year SEGA revealed all, and stripped off their clothes like they were getting laid at the hottest joint in town! Every possible game that they could have showed off, they did... and more then that, they also showed off what they were capable of with Next Generation Hardware! Look at what they showed off:

  • Phantasy Star Universe (PlayStation2 & PC)
  • Ryuga* (PlayStation2)
  • Shadow the Hedgehog (PlayStation2, Xbox & Nintendo Gamecube)
  • Sonic Riders (PlayStation2, Xbox & Nintendo Gamecube)
  • Puyo Pop Fever 2 (PlayStation2, Sony PSP & NintendoDS)
  • SEGA Rally 2006 (PlayStation2)
  • Crhokuto* (PlayStation2)
  • SEGA Ages 2500 - Volume 20 (PlayStation2)
  • SEGA Ages 2500 - Volume 21 (PlayStation2)
  • Killzone (PlayStation2)
  • Bleach* (Nintendo Gamecube & NintendoDS)
  • Initial D Street Stage (Sony PSP)
  • Guilty Gear XX - Reloaded (Sony PSP)
  • POWER SMASH! The New Generation (Sony PSP)
  • Where do babies come from? (NintendoDS)
  • Sonic Rush (NintendoDS)
  • Dinosaur Related Title* (NintendoDS)
  • GunStar Super Heores (GameBoy Advance)
  • RF Online (PC)
  • Super Monkey Ball DS (NintendoDS)

...Aswell as a whole other host of games SEGA are bringing over to Japan from the western side of the world (Killzone already mentioned) AND mobile games from SEGA of Japan's SEGA Mobile unit!

By far the biggest titles SEGA were getting across to the public this year, were the titles that they showed off properly in small special events they held in a special mini-theatre! These games were RF Online, Phantasy Star Universe, SEGA Presents X-Bleach, and Where do babies come from?, so watch out for those when they see western releases (Particularly Phantasy Star Universe... i mean.. dur!).

SEGA's MAIN aim this year though were to get across to the public how important SEGA were to be in the next generation of video gaming. During various times of the days over the weekend in which the Tokyo Games Show was held, SEGA held to events entitled 'SEGA The Future!' and 'Beat! And Groove! SEGA The Future!'.

The point of these 2 shows were to let the public know, SEGA are here to stay (Yay!). They showed off INCREDIBLY shiny graphics through the first set of shows, while the second set, they audio teams came into play and showed everyone how the advanced technology didnt just mean an advanced stage in graphics, but also how an advanced level of in-game audio can be achieved. We all know SEGA for MANY great soundtracks, and it sounds as if things can only get better!

Flashy! If pictures could talk, this one would be IN YER FACE!

Unfortunately i don't have anything to show you in the form of video's or anything from the event... i didn't go because i'm nowhere near Japan or speaking Japanese as the next guy (Unless he's Japanese), but of course if i could, you know i would! lol

Therefore, i'm going to do something a little different, and stop typing, and start showing. I've chosen a fair few games which everyone should look forward to when they get a western release, aswell as probabily links to downloadable trailers, followed by photo's of SEGA's HUGE booth at the TGS... oh how i wish i was there!

Of course, our main focus at TGS was Phantasy Star Universe, but i'm not posting any of that here, but instead going to revert you to the HUGE Phantasy Star Universe Article entitled 'Everything we know in all the universe!' which has now been revamped with tons of brand new info after the Tokyo Games Show aswell as links to new footage and images!

  • Sonic Rush - NintendoDS

Mines bigger then yours! You pointing that thing at me?

Nice!Put those cards back on the shelf!

"Blah Blah Blah"

Photon Bracelets!The New Sonic!

If you didn't read my highly informative news post not a couple of weeks ago all about the TGS before it happened, then i'll post the highlights here too... mainly just to once again show off the amazing items they were giving away... for FREE!!! Lucky Japanese people...

MSI Computers!Computer hardware developer 'MSI Computers Japan' partnered up with SEGA of Japan to help them out with their PC needs when they show off their games at this weekends Tokyo Games Show! The PC's were used for the showing of the PC versions of Phantasy Star Universe and another MMORPG's of SEGA's entitled 'RF Online'.

RF Online!

That's not all though! SEGA supported the NintendoDS's Download Play at the event, so if you take your NintendoDS console down to the SEGA booth, you would of been able to try out some great new games on your own hardware:

  • Sonic Rush
    • Play through Zone 1 - Act 2 using Sonic!
    • Play through Zone 2 - Act 1 using Blaze!
  • SEGA's X-Bleach Project
    • Visual Demonstration
  • Where do babies come from?
    • How much love can you give?

And finally... you'd have been able to grab some AMAZING free games merchandise at the SEGA booth, as if you didn't have a reason to have gone there already! For Phantasy Star Universe, they've got special 'Photon Bracelets'! Ooooooh! Check some of this great sh*t out!

SEGA's X-Bleach Project Goods!Initial D (Street Stage) NeckpieceRF Online Goods (Inc. Screen Cuttings?)

SEGA really blew everyone out of Tokyo with their HUGE show at the Tokyo Games Show. This year they gave it their all, and didn't hold anything back, showing off pratically everything from every game they had coming to town this year... in Japan anyways! Always the way isn't it?

If you didn't read about it yesterday, Chao came to me as mad as ever. Aparently he only had a couple of mugs of coffee that morning, but i don't believe him. The reason he said he was so excitied is because SEGA of Europe placed a load of super rare items up for auction on eBay.co.uk in the hope of raising a lot of cash to sponsor a few employee's trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro later this year - Raising money for the games industry charity ESC. Definately check out those items if you haven't already, which will be highlighted with an * next to the items prices!

He's off again! If you're interested - click on the item! All prices were correct as of September 23rd 2005 (Evening BST) or the prices with * were correct as of the original time of posting on 22nd September Afternoon BST.

Chao, for now!
