We all love Japanese stuff, that's why we all love computers games, technology, and Phantasy Star Online! Take Anime as an example... the Japanese is the only place you'll get proper anime because they're just so dam good at it, but sometimes though, they don't like to see it leave the country. What am i talking about? Its Phantasy Star Online - The Magazines!

Phantasy Star Online... In A Book?!

According to SEGA's Japanese website, there have been 10 Phantasy Star Online, Episodes I & II 'Books' published and sold for general retail on the Japanese market.

In fact, the comics ran from April 2001 - 25th April 2003, so the series was obviously a hit... but then again, so was everything Phantasy Star Online at that time!

If you were a real hardcore Phantasy Star Online fan and wanted to know about the story after PSO, well Sonic Team made the 'PSO Novels' for all of them too! Only two were ever released unfortunately, but with the books ending over 200 pages long each, i think there's more then enough story there to keep on reading time and time again as the story followed Pioneer 3 and 'The toungue of Talos' - Would make a good game that!

Lastly, there are of course the many Strategy Guides Sonic Team released. There were actually a couple for the very first SEGA Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online, i couldn't tell you what the differences between them are though mind...

This edition of the Hunters Gazette basically acts as a listing to all the Phantasy Star Online novles, and magazines ever published. Why did they never get published outside of Japan? Because SEGA ARE FOOLS! I want some PSO comics... ;_;

Phantasy Star Online Novels

  • Phantasy Star Online: The Photon Succession
  • The time is A. U. W3089, following on from the large explosion at the central dome. After the events it was heard that Pioneer 3 was on it's way to act as an immigration boat. However found aboard the ship is a girl from foster care who has a special power, the power of 'The toungue of Talos'.

  • Phantasy Star Online: The Factor of Darkness
  • The story in this second Phantasy Star Online comic followed the sighting of Pioneer 3 which was also lost. Was it stolen?

Phantasy Star Online: 'The Laughing Comic Series'

With all of the 'Laughing Comic Series' as they've titled them, the stories were kept short and sweet, much like comic books you get over here. The stories aren't continued over series of the comics, but just short stories where the reader can unintentionally laugh at the fortunes... and misfortunes of the Hunters!
